Two Daughters and a Million Blessings

Two Daughters and a Million Blessings

A Mother’s Hope for a Changing Society

The Joy — and the Judgement

When I was expecting my second child, I felt the same joy I had the first time — the fluttering heartbeat, the little kicks, and dreams of a new life. But along with the excitement came whispers.

“Must be hoping for a boy this time,” they said. “Her husband is the only son.”

Then, I gave birth to my second daughter.
Another beautiful baby girl. Another blessing.

Gratitude, Not Regret

My husband and I felt nothing but joy. My in-laws welcomed her with love. But society didn’t.

People offered congratulations laced with pity. Some asked, “Another girl? Are you okay?”

Yes, I was. More than okay. I had prayed for a healthy child — not a son or daughter — and strength to raise them with love and dignity. And God answered, twice.

A Question for Us All

It’s 2025, yet so many women still face judgment for giving birth to girls. Some experience quiet disappointment. Others face cruelty. Some, heartbreakingly, lose their lives — simply for bearing daughters.

Why?

What makes daughters “less”? Today, sons and daughters are equally capable. They chase careers, leave home, and live independently. Emotional bonds, care, and values don’t belong to one gender.

Daughters Are Not Burdens

And yet, the birth of a second girl is still met with sighs, not smiles. Society ties a woman’s worth to the gender of her child — a truth we need to change.

Let’s Start with Stories

Change begins with stories like mine — and yours. Let’s stop hiding. Let’s speak up. Let’s raise our girls knowing they are strong, powerful, and valued.

To parents with daughters — celebrate them.
To mothers-to-be — don’t let society dim your joy.
To all — wake up. Girls are not burdens. They are blessings.

I don’t just have two daughters.
I am blessed — twice.
